Afraid my Season's Over

No the dogs are fine, it's me who has "went down". Woke up Sat. with a sore knee and a backache. Didn't surprise me as I've been out hunting for 10 of the last 14 days so decided to just take it easy on Sat. as I still have a weeks vacation to use. Sat. evening I went to lift a bag of horse feed and felt a stabbing pain in my back. I instantly knew what it was "back spasms". I was crippled this summer for two weeks with back spasms and know what they are. Pain pills and rest are the only solutions that the Doc's have so now I'm hobbling around the house feeling sorry for the dogs and myself. The best I can hope for is to get better by Thanksgiving Day so I can hunt that Thurs, Fri, and Sat, before Deer Season. I had coverts lined up to hunt this week that now will go unhunted till next year. But the worst thing is the experiences that Emma will miss due to my body breaking down. ERRRR........ and I'm not even old (well not that old)yet.

Sorry to hear that Rick. I know all about back spasms, they're terrible . There is always late season, WVA and spring woodcock. I am sure you'll be able to get Emma into plenty of birds.

Sorry to hear you're down for a bit. I hope you heal fast.

Last fall I went down with pneumonia on Nov. 5, and lost the rest of the seasons. This year, Gordie went down with an infection, and we lost the heart of woodcock season.

Gilda was right: "It's always something."

Dammit Rick! I was snooping here a little, wondering when we were going to get together! Take care of yourself and rest up for the late season!

These things never seem to happen in the heat of July. For what it's worth, I worked with an orthopaedist for eight years and his prescription for every single case of lumbar spasm included walking. All in moderation, flat ground, not carrying anything, the purpose being to keep the muscle stretched (but not overworked) to ease the spasm. It's worked for me several times.

Hope you get to feeling better. Always nice to have a dog's head to scratch when you're under the weather.

Not to doctor from afar, but my bad back responded well to a steady dose of chiropractic from that I finally found after going through other docs and chiros. Helped with a bad knee I have had seven surgeries on too - took six months originally but my spine was 1.5" from being straight. Twice a month or more now as indicated. Good luck. TK Jackson, WY
