SportDog Comes Through

I received my new SportDog Tek 1.0 tracking collar to replace the faulty one in less than a week. Kudo's to SportDog for the quick service. I did have to call their helpline for help in getting the transmitter "tuned in" to the collar, but had a very friendly girl walk me through the procedure. This weekend is the start of Pa.'s grouse and woodcock seasons but I'll be letting the opening day crowd have the woods and start my season on Monday in quiet coverts.  Hopefully I'll be seeing sights like this in the upcoming weeks :) and a few stories to tell.

Good luck to you this season. Maybe we will run into each other one day. I stopped by at LCS yesterday to pick up a TEK 1 but its on back order till November. Are your thoughts on this collar good? Right now i use a Garmin Astro and an Ecollar but the ecollar is starting to fail and I figure the astro is getting old also. The new Garmin and TEK 2 are just too $$ and a lot of bells and whistles that I don't need. Just need shock capability and know where my dog is and how far away.

Hi Chris

If my new collar proves to be durable I will "sing the praises" of the Tek 1. My model doesn't have the e-collar so I can't comment on that, but the tracking system is simple to use, once you have it set-up. I'm not the "sharpest knife in the drawer" when it comes to electronics and will admit to calling SportDog to get help in linking my new collar to my transmitter, but they have a very helpful staff ready to answer any and all questions you may have. Their compass and backtracking feature are also easy to use and have gotten me back to the truck numerous times. Garmin and SportDog need to realize that many hunters want something simple to use without all the "bells and whistles" and I believe the Tek 1 is the closest thing being made at this time.

Good luck to you also this season, and if you happen to see an old white haired guy carrying a hammer gun and following an English setter stop and say hi.
