Fall is Upon Us

Just some pics of the changing season that awakens the hunter in us.

The Black Birch turning to gold and lighting up an old logging road.

Sumac catching fire.

A Sassafras tree in full fall color.

The wife and I went on a Gameland tour today. Every year the Game commission opens certain roads and has displays and personnel (foresters, land managers, wildlife officers) posted along the way to answer any questions you may have. Here are some pics that the wife took of the wildlife mounts that they that displayed along the route.

A Fisher mount.

A female Bobcat with a kitten.

A Great Horned Owl.

It was an extremely enjoyable afternoon and I got several leads on some new grouse and woodcock coverts.

This past week has really stirred the hunters blood in me, and I'm eager to wander the coverts.  Here'
s wishing good luck to my fellow hunters as we enter this season that we all love.

Good stuff Rick! Looks like things will be in full swing on your side of the mountain in the coming weeks. Look forward to seeing more of your wanderings as the month progresses.

I get frost way later than anyone else. I guess the trees and my 8 foot fence protect things. I love the sassafras tree on your side bar-it is one of my favorite trees.Tree Nursery Co
